What's New!

Dear Food Bank Community,

Together we are feeling the uncertainty, fear and confusion COVID-19 has caused for many. Our hearts, homes and beyond are working to adapt to expanding recommendations and the unknown of what lays ahead.  We at the food bank are making our way through these changes as we prepare to serve our community with the safety of clients, volunteers and staff as the first priority for us.  Please know that the food bank is considered an essential service and will continue to operate at this time.

Our ongoing mandate is to keep our community members, who are in need of food support, fed.  We recognize that with many out of work or in a position of having to self-isolate that the concern of feeding oneself and family can become something that quickly causes fear.  We, at the food bank are here to help as much as we are able.
We are preparing to meet this rising need, and in order to keep our community safe some of our processes are going to look a little different.   We will be providing information to you, our community, as we continue to follow suggested guidelines in safe food handling and connecting with clients for their safety and ours.   Please be aware that as the situation develops, things may change.  We are committed to you, our community and will keep you informed as we roll out or process changes.

To our volunteers, thanks so much for all you do to support those we serve.  Please know that you are the lifeblood of our organization and you are valued more than you can know. As noted in official volunteer communications please know that if you do not feel comfortable maintaining your food bank shifts at this time, you will be welcomed back once we come through the other side of this. At this time are currently not accepting new volunteers.
To our community, thanks for all you do to care for each other.  We are going to need your support now more than ever.  We anticipate the need for our services to rise dramatically and with your help we can continue to meet those needs.  If you would like to make a donation of food, please drop it off at any grocery store bin.  Cash donations will be crucial to meet shifting needs. If you would like to support us with a cash donation you can do so online using the following link:

We invite you to stay informed of our updates and most needed items through our social media channels.
Over the years I have been blessed to lead the community in feeding each other and will continue to take great pride in being a part of the Airdrie community, my home with a huge heart.  Thanks to you all and please stay safe and follow guidelines to keep others safe as well. Thank-you!

2020 Shamrock Shimmy Cancelled

In light of growing concerns around COVID-19 and recommendations for social distancing coming from local, regional and national authorities we are regretfully cancelling this year’s Shamrock Shimmy.

We were really looking forward to a great evening with you and value your support of the food bank and those we serve.  Although the decision to cancel the event leaves us with heavy hearts we are confident that this is the best route to align ourselves with proactive public health practices and demonstrate our ongoing commitment to the wellness of our staff, volunteers, clients and community in all capacities.

Our West Jet raffle will still be drawn on Saturday and announced through the Airdrie Food Bank Facebook page once the winner is contacted.

Next week we will begin the process of refunding tickets and connecting with event sponsors.  Please stay tuned for details of how to still get your hands on some of the incredible auction items we had lined up!

Feeding Kids at School

Many families in our community are struggling and some children go to school without anything to eat. Without lunch, these students’ ability to learn is greatly impacted. Our goal is to ensure that no child goes hungry at school in our area. You can help feed hungry kids at school by making a donation directly to us or through CanadaHelps. Every dollar makes a difference. Thank you!
